THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

That's always been one of my favorite sayings. (And anyone who knows me well enough, knows that I love old quotes and sayings.) I first heard this one many years ago. And then I found out there was a book with that title! That particular quote just seems to sum everything up, especially when I'm in conversation with myself and the conversation seems to be going on for too long. Just wrap it up Johanna. Stop dissecting the details.

I love old sayings and expressions... I think they stand the test of time for a few reasons...

“If every position of leadership and decision-making were occupied by a woman, we’d have the problems of the world solved in a week.” I think I may have heard that somewhere. Or maybe I just made it up. Either way, I believe it to be true. And these day? More so than ever.

Over the holidays I did what many of us do around that festive time of year; gave myself permission to eat more sugar, forgot about the importance of roughage and ignored the fact that eggnog probably doesn’t have much egg in it.

Some ideas you just can't let go of. No matter what anyone says, or how long ago it was. Because you just know it might be worth one more try. Island Gals Magazine was an idea that came to me almost 15 years ago. A printed gathering place of sorts, where ordinary women - your neighbours, your friends, maybe your dentist or just someone you met along the way in life - could share their incredible relatable experiences, and words of wisdom you could put in your pocket and pu
