I always thought luck and chance were the same thing, and that they couldn’t be controlled or manipulated.
That is until I discovered feng shui! I learned that they are in fact quite different.
Chance is mathematical, like the odds of winning the lottery, while luck is personal and can be cultivated.
So let’s get this out the way right now:
Feng shui will not improve our chance of winning the lottery!
It cannot alter the mathematical laws of the universe.
What it will do however, is help us accumulate more personal luck - and who couldn’t use more of that?
Did you know that in the Chinese view of life, we all have three kinds of luck?
Yes, seriously!
It is often referred to as the Trilogy of Luck and in my opinion, is a very important point to grasp when studying feng shui.
Why? Because there are only two kinds of luck that we can work with to cultivate good fortune in our lives.
Let’s take a closer look at all three.
Heaven Luck - Human Luck - Earth Luck
Heaven Luck has to do with our “lot in life” and can be likened to our astrological birth chart.
Basically, it’s the blessings and challenges we were born with.
We all know of people who appear to be born with great advantages.
Often, they are referred to as being born with “a silver spoon in their mouth”.
These individuals are considered to have good Heaven Luck.
On the other hand, we also know of people born in poverty with great disadvantages.
They are considered to have bad Heaven Luck.
We may feel envious of people with good Heaven Luck or perhaps sorry for those with bad Heaven Luck, but the fact is we can’t do anything about the Heaven Luck we received at birth.
On the other hand, we can’t rely on Heaven Luck to be consistently good or bad. It can and probably will change over our lifetime.
Human Luck is the second kind of luck.
It is also referred to as “Man Luck”.
This luck falls into the realm of our control and can be used to improve on our Heaven Luck.
We all know of people who have made something of their lives in spite of obvious challenges or setbacks. Through the cultivation of Human Luck, these individuals have risen above their handicap and achieved more in their lifetime than many of us!
A positive attitude, determination and willpower are the hallmarks of these individuals.
This is using Human Luck effectively.
Earth Luck is the third kind of luck and is none other than feng shui.
It’s roots are deeply embedded in our physical world and utilizing it’s awesome power is still a fairly new concept in North America. With feng shui (Earth Luck) we are able to take full advantage of the good times and mitigate the bad.
While simple to use, it must be followed correctly in order to bring about positive results.
To a large degree we are all stuck with our Heaven Luck, but Human Luck and Earth Luck (feng shui) are both within our grasp to affect positive change.
